Feed a little bit of that political distress

The Multiverse

Polling day for the state of New South Wales is rocking up closer and closer this weekend. Labour and Liberals locking horns over the state of business affairs and outlining who is the bigger offender in running things dead into the ground.

On the one hand, Peter Debnam for the Liberals and a man who can't seem to keep a business afloat. Even to the point of denying his connection and business dealings with said markers on his CV.

And on the other, Morris Iemma for Labour. A man with a high forehead and ministers who haven't been all that great in their track records for running of services and infrastructure.

Two party preferred system means that either one of these will have to rule the state with their combined numbers. Placing a vote for the Greens and Democrats apparently, as some people will joke, a throwaway gesture.

Personally, it's going down with the Greens and Democrats ahead of Labour with the right-wing parties wallowing with Liberal. To that end, an idea for a little political grandstanding in the polling areas for Saturday.

Take the ballots, vote for whichever party tickles the fancy and sounds like a winner. Fold up the ballot as instructed.

On the walk from the voting booth, stand in the middle with a look of despair and a voice of shock. Proclaim something along the lines of "Oh my stars and garters! I've made a huge mistake! I just voted [political party of opposing choice]!"

Then place the ballot in the box and walk away.

There were 338 boxes to fill below the black line on the ballot for the members of the legislative council. And when done fast and with preferences in mind, takes about 15 minutes or so.
